How to use it
- Pick the type that matches the page, such as LocalBusiness for your contact page or Product for a product page.
- Fill in the fields, using only details that visitors can also see on that page.
- Fix anything marked as required, add the recommended properties that apply, then copy the code.
- Paste the code into the page and test the published page in Google's Rich Results Test.
What is schema markup?
Schema markup, also called structured data, is a small block of code that describes what a page is about in a vocabulary search engines share, published at schema.org. Instead of guessing that a string of numbers is your phone number or that a date is when your workshop starts, Google can read it directly.
Google says it uses structured data to understand the content of a page, and recommends the JSON-LD format, which is what this generator writes. JSON-LD sits in its own <script type="application/ld+json"> block, so it never changes how the page looks.
Some types can make a page eligible for rich results, such as product prices or a breadcrumb trail in place of the plain address. Eligibility is not a promise: Google's structured data guidelines say correct markup does not guarantee a rich result will appear.
Which schema types matter for a Singapore small business?
- Organization on your home or about page: your name, logo, website and social profiles. Google lists no required properties, so add the ones that apply.
- LocalBusiness if customers visit you, such as a shop, clinic, café or salon. Google requires the name and address. Opening hours, a phone number with +65, and map coordinates are recommended. Pick the most specific type, such as Dentist or HairSalon, as Google's local business guide asks.
- Product on pages where people can buy from you. Google calls these merchant listings and requires the product name, an image, the price and the currency, such as SGD. A page that reviews or compares products without selling them follows the lighter product snippet rules instead, and the generator checks whichever you pick.
- Article or BlogPosting on blog posts, with the author, dates and images.
- BreadcrumbList on any page that sits a few levels deep. Google shows breadcrumbs in desktop results.
- Event for workshops, open houses and launches at a physical venue.
A note on FAQPage. In 2023 Google limited FAQ rich results to well-known government and health websites, and from 7 May 2026 it stopped showing them in Search altogether (see Google's deprecation notice). FAQPage is still a valid schema.org type, so the generator includes it, but adding it will not change how your page appears in Google.
How to add JSON-LD schema in WordPress, Shopify and Webflow
Before adding anything, open your page, view the source and search for application/ld+json. Many platforms and plugins already output some schema, and two competing blocks for the same thing make it unclear which one is right.
WordPress: SEO plugins such as Yoast SEO already output Organization, WebSite and WebPage markup on every page, filled in from the plugin's settings. Check those settings first. For anything extra, such as an Event on one page, paste the code with a plugin that adds code to the head of a single page, or ask your developer to add it to the theme.
Shopify: many themes, including Shopify's own Dawn theme, print Product and Article markup through Liquid's structured_data filter. To add your own, go to Online Store, then Themes, and choose Edit code. Site-wide markup such as Organization goes in layout/theme.liquid. Markup for one kind of page, such as product pages, goes in the theme file that builds those pages, using Liquid values so the details always match what the page shows.
Webflow: open the page's settings and paste the code into the custom code field Inside <head> tag, then publish. Site-wide markup can go in the site settings' custom code instead. For CMS pages such as blog posts, a Code Embed element on the Collection page can pull in CMS fields, so each item gets its own values.
Schema markup mistakes to avoid
- Marking up things visitors cannot see. Google's guidelines say plainly: don't mark up content that is not visible to readers of the page. If your hours, price or answers are in the code, they should be on the page too.
- Fake or self-written reviews. The guidelines name fake reviews as misleading markup that can lead to a manual action. Separately, a business that controls the reviews about itself is not eligible for review stars on its LocalBusiness or Organization markup, even through a review widget.
- Details that drift. When opening hours or prices change, update the markup at the same time, or the code and the page disagree.
- Prices with symbols. Write
1299.00, not$1,299. The currency, SGD, goes in its own property. The generator tidies this for you. - Dates without a time zone. Google recommends a time zone in article and event dates, for example
2026-11-07T19:00:00+08:00for 7pm in Singapore.
How to test your structured data
Paste the code into the Code tab of Google's Rich Results Test to see which rich results it is eligible for and any errors Google finds. The Schema Markup Validator checks the code against the full schema.org vocabulary, including types Google does not use for rich results.
Once the page is live, test its URL as well, so you know the code made it through your theme or plugins. Search Console's rich result reports then flag errors across the whole site, so check them after a redesign or any change to how your pages are built. Our AI-powered websites include structured data as part of the build, along with sitemaps and llms.txt.
Frequently asked questions
Is this schema markup generator free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and it runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored.
Does schema markup improve Google rankings?
Google uses structured data to understand a page and to decide which rich results it is eligible for, such as product prices or breadcrumbs. Google also says correct markup does not guarantee a rich result. Treat it as one part of SEO, alongside useful content and a site that loads quickly.
Where do I put the JSON-LD code?
Google reads JSON-LD in either the <head> or the <body> of the page. Most people add it to the head. Put each block on the page it describes, for example Product markup on that product's page.
Can one page have more than one schema type?
Yes. A blog post can carry Article and BreadcrumbList markup, and a home page can carry Organization and LocalBusiness. Paste each block separately. Avoid two blocks describing the same thing with different details.
Why do my FAQs no longer show as dropdowns in Google?
Google stopped showing FAQ rich results on 7 May 2026. Before that, from 2023, only well-known government and health websites were shown with them. The markup itself is still valid, but it no longer changes how a page appears in Google Search.
Should I use Organization or LocalBusiness?
Use LocalBusiness if customers come to a physical address, such as a shop, clinic or showroom, because it carries opening hours and location. Use Organization for a company without a public premises, or on the home page to describe the company as a whole.
