Every website/app comes with experience and interfaces

The industry often speaks of User Experience (UX) & User Interface (UI) design, but how do we at JIN Design, approach the term UX & UI? Every website/app comes with experience and our job is to take care of the experience and create the interface for users to interact with the website/app.

Experience cannot exist without an interface, whether it is an app, website or other digital platforms. Without interacting with the interface, a user cannot do anything.

Simply said, our job is to create the interface for the users.

When we design, we ensure

  1. Accuracy — we understand the requirements from the client well
  2. Empathy — we know who we are designing for
  3. Curiosity — we find ways to design better than the existed
  4. Challenge — each member in the team challenges the proposed design and strive to bring out the best
  5. Post Mortem — we look back to see what we accomplished and how we can make it better

“At JIN Design, preference is our enemy”

Whenever we design, we stick to this principle:

“Preferences are the biggest enemy of a designer”

There should be no preference from any of our designers. We are trained to spot our own preference so we know whether we are designing with preference or designing based on requirements.

Sometimes, the industry comes with so many unfamiliar design terms that we have absolutely no time to keep track. That’s why we have our own design process of how we should do things and why we are doing what we are doing.

Fun-time Fridays!

Every Friday, we set some time off to practice designing in general (might not be UX & UI related), for instance, designing a new bag, sketching a unicorn with a turtle on top, researching on horror films and more.

Through this, we are able to bring new practices and knowledge into designing for digital platforms. It helps us to understand the world more, rather than just gluing ourselves to the screens on our devices.

We also conduct post-mortem sessions where all the team members sit down together to analyze the project and how we can do better next time.
