Designing a simple website is not simple.
We often receive inquiries like:
“My website is very simple, 5 pages will do. Can’t you complete within few days?”
The truth is, a simple website is not simple to design.
To design a website takes brain power, time and effort. It is not simple. Brushing teeth is simple. Walking is simple. Cooking instant noodle is simple. But designing a simple website is not simple.
A simple website means that the website information is easily understandable by the reader, and not difficult to use or navigate.
Interviews with the respective audience need to be conducted to test that the information on the website is easily understandable by the reader. Same goes for usability testing of whether the user knows how to use or navigate the website.
For it to be simple, it may take weeks or months, not just days.
Understand that a simple website does not automatically mean less work.
When we build a website, we don’t pay less attention to our designs just because it is simple or that the client paid less money. We don’t put any less effort into designing because a simple site doesn’t need to function well. We regard all the same. As long as it’s coming from us, it should be quality assured.
“Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains. ~ Steve Jobs”
The great Paul Rand once said, “Design is so simple, that’s why it is so complicated”. Most of you may have heard the expression “less is more”. This is essentially what Paul Rand is communicating, that and the fact that it’s not always an easy task to accomplish.
To design such a simple website, we have to make sure we understand your business well enough, such that the content used on the website is clear and simple to be understood.
That’s why we are charging for a premium rate. It caters to understanding your business, not just churning out yet another website with a WordPress template.
